Modelled

  1. Note: Hink Pinks are two word riddles that rhyme. They are accompanied by a visual to prompt the viewer. After learning some common hink pinks, such as ‘blue shoes’, ‘small ball’, ‘clown frown’, students will create their own set of flashcards in pairs. On one side, they will illustrate their hink pink and on the other, there will be the written answer. An effective lesson to consolidate rhyme and adjectives.

  2. Display the image of the ‘box fox’ on the board for students to view. Ask them what they see and give a clue that the answer rhymes. Students should say ‘box fox’.

  3. Tell students that this is an example of a ‘hink pink’, a rhyming riddle that you can solve by looking at picture clues

  4. Display some more examples of ‘hink pinks’ on the board and invite students to guess what they are.
