Bushfires Informative Texts
This unit explores the causes, effects and impacts of bushfires on people and the environment. This unit uses a wide range of informative and narrative texts and creates opportunities for students to practise skills such as summarising, determining cause and effect, making connections and researching. Students will engage in deep discussions and group work tasks, and be encouraged to think in ways that are imaginative, creative and critical. These lessons can also be completed as a stand alone lesson and with another text of choice. Note - be sensitive to the possibility that students, their family or friends, may have experienced bushfire events, some with tragic consequences.
