Exploring Persuasion - The Very Sleepy Bear

The mentor text ‘The Very Sleepy Bear’ by Nick Bland is used to hook students into this persuasive writing unit. Students will review, extend and apply their knowledge of persuasive writing as they unpack the importance of perspective, persuasive language, facts and opinions and target the audience to create convincing arguments. Then using this knowledge they will tap into their imaginations to design and create a new habitat for a specific animal, and persuade them to live there. A fantastic unit to encourage creativity and real-world persuasive texts!
