Fact, Fiction or Opinion?
Students will love engaging in this unit as they explore the differences between facts, fiction and opinions. From images to sentences and to books, children will learn to analyse pictures and words, identify whether they fall into fact, fiction or opinion and explain the reason for their choice. Through whole group experiences and individual tasks, students will have fun with serious and silly pictures and texts that help them recognise and understand the difference between truth, imagination and points of view. These lessons are designed to be taught in sequence. You may choose to move more quickly or slowly, depending on the responses and abilities of your students. You may also choose to combine the initial lessons as a revision for Year 1 if they have some prior experience of this content.
