
My Worries
This unit explores the concept of worrying and will help students with any ‘Back To School’ worries they may be experiencing. Students will engage with and learn to empathise with characters from a range of literary texts. The suggested books in this unit have stunning and emotive illustrations that will help students develop their visual literacy and creates opportunities to practise comprehension skills such as predicting, summarising, inferring and making connections. This unit will also explore social and emotional skills, helping students to define their emotions and giving them useful strategies to cope with worrying and facing their fears. Students will be given opportunities to show their understanding through discussion, writing, drama and art activities. These lessons can also be completed as a stand- alone lesson and with another text of choice.
