Exploring Point of View
This mini unit will provide students in grades 2-6 with a range of opportunities to explore point of view in fiction texts. Explicit teaching, using Maggie Hutchings’ fantastic text ‘Your Birthday Was The Best’, will support students to determine point of view, and then consider different perspectives when reading and writing. While these lessons have been designed to be taught in a sequence, they can also be delivered as stand alone sessions, and can also be used with a different mentor text.
