Sorry Day
This mini unit explores the historical reasons for The National Day Of Healing (Sorry Day) within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. It will explicitly step students through the skills of predicting, making connections, summarising, inferring, and comparing texts based on a similar topic. Students will explore a range of rich and vibrant historical fiction picture books and non-fiction texts to build their knowledge and understanding. While these lessons may be adapted to other mentor texts, and as stand alone lessons, they have been specifically written to compliment each other and to be used in sequence.
