To The Top End - Creative Vocabulary
This mini unit will explicitly step students through the skill of using texts to identify and use subject specific vocabulary. It uses the text ‘To The Top End’ by Roland Harvey. Harvey creates the opportunity for students to be inspired to use a wide range of vocabulary, through his detailed and intricate images. The images can help students identify and use subject specific vocabulary to create their own stories to describe what is happening in the images. Through the use of the sentence structure ‘noun, verb and circumstance’, students will use the images within the text for inspiration and create interesting and descriptive sentences. These lessons can also be completed as a stand alone lesson and with another text of choice.
